Offering Tutoring for Year 10- Year 12 SACE students in the subjects of Biology,
Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics or related subjects (eg. Year 10 General Science or
Year 11 Specialist Mathematics) + UMAT
Over the past two years, I have acquired experience tutoring students from Lower Primary year levels all the way up to Year 12.
During these two years, I developed a love for working with students in their final years
of secondary school and being able to share my knowledge in a friendly environment.
For the older students, I possess resources from various number of sources in the form
of practice tests and exams and am also to provide my own study notes in addition to
the knowledge that I hope to pass onto them during the sessions.
With regards to the UMAT, it is a dynamic and unique test. Here, students are matched
against the best across the state and country with questions that lack syllabus and
formal learning structure. My experience with UMAT extends over 5 years: 2 years
study in high school, and 3 years as a private tutor. I am very pleased by the large
number who find themselves in a medical course the following year.
In terms of the general structure of my sessions, I follow a simple rubric based
around the mantra of consistent work and assistance yielding favourable results.
At the beginning of the session, the student will be guided through the theory in a
tutorial style manner. Then, this material will be reinforced by focused questions and
discussion of areas that are providing difficulty. There is take home material or
'homework' for students to work with between classes and this material is expected
to be completed before the following session in keeping with the idea of continuous
Students are encouraged to use the continuous support that I offer during the week
via email/phone contact.
